You Are Not Alone: Understanding Domestic Abuse and Finding Support
Domestic abuse can affect anyone, regardless of age, culture, income, or background. It often happens behind closed doors and may not always look the way people expect. Abuse can be physical, emotional, verbal, financial, or psychological, and it often escalates over time. Many survivors live with fear, confusion, and self-doubt long before they are able to recognize what is happening to them.
One of the most common myths about domestic abuse is that survivors can “just leave.” In reality, leaving an abusive situation is complex and can be dangerous without proper planning and support. Survivors may face financial dependence, threats, isolation, immigration concerns, or fear for their children’s safety. These barriers can make it incredibly difficult to take the first step toward freedom.
At Saarthi, we believe that awareness, compassion, and access to resources can change lives. Survivors deserve to be heard without judgment and supported at their own pace. Healing begins when someone feels safe enough to speak, ask questions, or seek help.
If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, reaching out for support can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. Trusted community organizations, counselors, legal advocates, and helplines exist to help survivors navigate their options safely and confidentially.
No one deserves to live in fear. Help, hope, and healing are possible.
